Academic Research on Global Challenges

In this talk Prof. T. Venkatesan will address the key global challenges tackled by his research team at the University of Oklahoma (OU), in collaboration with NIST and other institutions, highlighting potential for partnerships with academic institutions in India. This talks key topics include extreme weather prediction to mitigate impacts, supported by OU’s unique resources like the National Weather Centre. He will also explore clean energy advancements, such as fusion, and the development of radiation detectors. In semiconductor technology, he will discuss breakthroughs in advanced packaging, defect analysis, and AI/ML applications in circuit imaging. Additionally, he will introduce his work in health diagnostics, focusing on non-invasive breath-based cancer and pathogen detection. Finally, he will look at the future of computing, including innovations in memristors, brain-like computing, and quantum materials.
